The Commercial Aerospace Manufacturing Association of South Africa (CAMASA) is a non-profit organisation formed in 2016 to integrate the collective offering of the SA aviation sector. It aims to establish a growth-bilateral between the Public & Private sectors with the intent to significantly boost the exports of the commercial aviation industry. CAMASA is focused on the aero structures, aircraft systems and interiors, and assemblies as well as advanced manufacturing sectors with 100 active companies exporting approximately R3.0 billion annually with 40% local added value and employing in excess of 3 000 highly skilled people. Aerospace design and manufacture is the leading technology sector in SA. Some of the specific outcomes defined for CAMASA is the doubling of the sector’s manufactured exports over 5 years, growing the employment in high skilled jobs by 60%, transformation of the sector through ownership as well as skills and supplier development with particular emphasis on black industrialisation and the promotion of direct partnerships with international Clusters, OEM’s and Technology Centre’s.
